Gwernyfed High School introduced a cashless system in December 2016.
The system incorporates the latest technology and eliminates the need for pupils to carry cash throughout the day. It is also biometric so there is no need for pupils to carry a card as the system will recognise the thumb of your child at the tills. Please note that no image of the thumb print is stored. The impression generates a digital code and it is this code that links the pupils to their account.
Money can be paid into a pupil’s account through Parentpay. Topping up of your child’s account is flexible and at your discretion, any money spent on food and drink will be deducted on a daily basis. A daily “spend limit” of £5:00 will be programmed into the system. This can be increased or decreased for an individual pupil by the parent(s) making a written request by e-mail to the school finance office.
We will have two payment options available to you – online payments at www.parentpay.com and Pay Point with the local community (i.e. local post offices, supermarkets etc).
The system allows complete privacy for those pupil’s entitled to Free School Meals.
In line with current legislation we will be operating an “Opt Out” policy. If you choose not to have your child registered on the Biometric System a 4 digit PIN Code will be allocated. Please note that PIN codes do not have the same level of security and it will be your child’s responsibility to remember the code and keep it secure at all times.
Every pupil should have recieved an activation letter which includes a username and password which have been generated by parent pay. Once you have logged in with this username and password it will allow you to change your username to your email address and a password which will be easier for you to remember.
If you are in need of an activation letter, please contact Sam Cook on firstname.lastname@example.org.
